Abinaya is part of one of the largest youth volunteering organizations, Bhumi, which is based out of Chennai. She strongly believes that volunteering helps to nourish and enrich the capacities of young people to take effective and responsible action.

Even during her B. Tech degree, Abinaya was keenly passionate about the subject Environmental Biotechnology and she wanted to research on things which could protect and save the environment. She worked on developing a substitute to harsh chemicals that are used in the paper dying industries. While working with the CSR team of TCS, she realized that volunteerism is an important need of the society at large. As part of her initiatives, she has worked with youngsters all over the country, leading workshops to motivate them to take up volunteering and lead a cause of their own.

She has herself been a part of Jagriti Yatra in 2015, done a 3-month rural development program called International Citizen Service with Pravah and Daan Utsav Fellowship with Bhumi. Technology has also played a significant part in her career and helped her to gain mature insights on lines of creativity and problem solving. She is passionate about connecting the powers of media, government and scientific innovations to bring a greater impact of scalability, accessibility and availability of resources to people from both urban and rural backgrounds.
