District Sanitation Fellow, Swachh Bharat Gramin

Education – B.A. L.L.B.
City – Kanpur
Saumya pursued B.A. LLB from Nirma University, Ahmedabad and the course gave her leverage to critically analyze the development of society and the legal justice system. Saumya strongly believes that the normative dimension in any policy or law is derived from values legitimized as political, social and human rights and they need to be guaranteed to each and every person. Also, internships at the Supreme Court and High Court of Gujarat and Delhi helped her develop skills to better adjudicate the legality of a circumstance. Further, while working with the suicide prevention and survivor support team of Connecting India, Pune, she got an opportunity to reflect and work upon the various challenges communities face in the country due to limited or no reach of basic necessities to them. To explore the policy implementations models, she interned at Chase India, New Delhi, where she assisted in preparing compelling strategies so that the clients can engage with stakeholders on different regulatory issues and also at Carnegie India, New Delhi, where along with research she assisted in hosting the inaugural Global Technology Summit, 2016 in Bangalore.
Before joining ISDM, while working with the District Collector in East Champaran, Bihar for more efficient penetration of the objectives of Swachh Bharat Gramin, she majorly focused on triggering the behavior change within communities and sustaining it. But she realized that understanding development holistically and managing its various stakeholders is a process and to study and evolve her clarity of the same, she joined ISDM.
