Program Leader, Kaivalya Education Foundation
Education – B.A. & Gandhi Fellowship
City – Bikaner

Lalit grew up in the small town of Bikaner, where his father had a job with the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan (SSA) that had them moving through several panchayats and tehsils through much of his early years. During his school days, Lalit cultivated interest in the extra-curricular activities – debate and news reading - and was often called to represent his school in competitions. After finishing school, he joined a local theatre group and found it be really enchanting and meaningful. He travelled across Rajasthan with his theatre troupe, performing street plays on several social issues in different cities. These experiences instilled in him a sense of responsibility, which he believes shaped his future career choices.

In 2009, he was selected to be a part of VSO’s Global Exchange Programme, which taught him the importance of understanding the problems of populations slated as ‘’others”’ in their own cultural context. In 2012, he joined the Gandhi Fellowship, where he worked with 5 school headmasters in Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan to create a change in the existing school system. He observed a huge change in the headmasters and some of them went on to be recognized as the district’s “Model Principals”.  Staying true to the aspiration he developed as part of the fellowship, he sought opportunities to work with local government representatives to improve the effectiveness of the programmes that they administer.
