Significant Life, Organisational Experience(s):
As the representative of 260 million children, who were suppressed in inhuman conditions, Basu became the voice for them and spokesperson in UN office, Geneva in 1998. After which ILO Convention 182 was ratified in 1999. During the worldwide movement which went to 103 countries, he met teacher unions, trade unions, civil societies activists, various Prime Ministers, Presidents and faith leaders across the world. He was the fellow fighter to Nobel Laureate Mr Kailash Satyarthi, as the active core marcher and leader in most of the national and international movements like Education March 2001, Anti-trafficking March 2012 and Bharat Yatra (India March against sexual abuse of children) 2017 etc.

Basu's autobiography “From the Streets of Kathmandu” was released on 10th June 2014. Through Basu Rai Initiative he could enrol hundreds of slum children to government schools and catalysed leadership among 30,000 women and children across India by the help of national and international volunteers to save children from the menace of sexual abuse, drug abuse, trafficking and cyber crime.
