Development Management
Why do NGOs need Development Management?
The Indian development sector is one of the largest and most active social economies in the world with 3.3 million Non-Profit Institutions (NPIs) employing over 18.22 million people (as per data from the Central Statistical Organisation, Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation), supported by contributions from funders, enabling organisations, the government, and businesses.
Also known as the Third Sector, the development sector in India today is at a crossroads. No longer does it comprise of grassroot NGOs alone - India’s social sector today is a vibrant mix of civil society organisations, social entrepreneurs, technologists, activists, donors, philanthropists, policy makers, researchers, academics and scientists. The impact, sustainability and scalability of development sector work requires leaders and managers who are able to respond to the specific needs of the sector.
