Collaboration is key

We aim to create that ecosystem through our partnerships and collaborations involving social purpose organisation, organisations that support the sector, pioneering development practitioners, leading voices in the sector and eminent academicians.

Nurturing a vibrant ecosystem

We believe that to change the way social purpose organisations are led and managed, it is important to catalyse a vibrant and global ecosystem of ideas, institutions and individuals for development management. This necessitates an approach which leverages the power of “collective wisdom, collective philanthropy” to catalyse the entire ecosystem for Development Management.

What is Development Management?

Development Management is a distinctive approach tailored specifically for SPOs. It recognizes the unique needs of the social sector and sets it apart from traditional management practices. By emphasizing collaboration, participation, inclusiveness, and an open architecture, Development Management aligns management principles with the requirements of societal and developmental perspectives.

Our Beginnings

ISDM was established in 2016 by a group of experienced professionals from diverse backgrounds in development and business who were burning to address this critical need. They established Development Management as distinctly different from business management or public administration to enable social purpose organisations to have impact at scale.
