Effectiveness of Impact-investing at the Base of the Pyramid: an Empirical Study From India

This empirical study investigates the effectiveness of impact investing at the Base of the Pyramid (BoP) in India. It examines how impact investments in social enterprises contribute to socio-economic development among rural and semi-urban populations. The research, based on case studies, identifies key operating principles for successful impact investing at the BoP, including affordability, innovation, cost control, local engagement, stakeholder management, local skill-building, dynamic leadership, and scalability. The findings offer valuable insights for practitioners and policymakers aiming to leverage impact investing for inclusive growth and sustainable development in emerging markets.
