Seema Bansal
Vice Chairperson, Punjab Development Commission

Seema Bansal is the Vice-Chairperson at the Punjab Development Commission since Nov 2023. Punjab Development Commission is a body set up by the state of Punjab on the lines of Niti Aayog.

Ms. Bansal is its very first leader entrusted with setting up and stabilizing the institution. Since joining, she has worked very closely with the political leadership and the bureaucracy on the state’s development agenda covering topics including fiscal health and budgeting, economic growth, education, health and agriculture. Over the last 2 years, PDC itself has grown to a 30 member organization with an additional 15 external partnerships with not-for-profits and think tanks. It is today seen as a well established and deeply trusted institution for the state.

Before joining this role, Seema worked at The Boston Consulting Group for 23+ years. She led the firm’s Social Impact practice in India as well as Asia Pacific. Seema is credited with pioneering the concept of Social Impact consulting not only within BCG but also for the country as a whole. While at BCG, a majority of Seema’s direct work has been with Central and state governments including Niti Aayog, Ministry of Skills, Ministry of Education as well as the states of Haryana, Delhi, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Jharkhand, MP, and Odisha. She has also worked with several foundations, development sector organizations, and multilaterals.

Given her 2 vastly different careers and the bold crossover move she has chosen to make from MNC consulting to deep Government, she is able to bring speed, sharpness and outcomes orientation of the private sector to the complex and yet large canvas for impact that a state Government provides.

In addition to her impact work, Seema loves engaging with young people and teaching. Seema was a guest faculty at Ashoka University through the academic year
2023-24 and a faculty at ISB Mohali in the AY 2024-25. She will be teaching at ISB Mohali and Plaksha University Mohali in the spring session of AY2026.

Seema is also a global speaker. She has had multiple TED and TEDx appearances with close to 2Mn views for her various talks.
