Amitabh is the Executive Director (Interim) of Oxfam International and a global civil society leader with deep expertise in tackling economic and gender inequality and strengthening citizen participation. Prior to this role, he served as the Chief Executive Officer of Oxfam India.

He has held several leadership positions in civil society, including Vice Chair of the Board of CIVICUS, a global alliance dedicated to strengthening citizen action and civil society worldwide. He serves on the boards of organisations such as the Centre for Budget and Governance Accountability (CBGA) and the Global Fund for Community Philanthropy (GFCF). Earlier, he was the Executive Director of the National Foundation for India, Convener of the National Social Watch Coalition, and Co-Chair of the Global Call to Action Against Poverty, a network of over 11,000 civil society organisations.
