Building The Management Backbone Of India's Social Sector

Since 2017, ISDM has shaped leaders, strengthened institutions, and convened the ecosystem around Development Management as a discipline. Today, that work shows up in alumni building the next generation of social-purpose organisations, in institutions bringing new rigour to how they govern, measure, and grow, and in a sector that has begun to treat management as central, not peripheral, to impact.

PGP-DM, Class of ’18
Joined ISDM's founding cohort at 21. While in the program, founded Nashora, a rural-artisan beeswax-candle social enterprise that hit ₹25 lakh in revenue in its second year. Went on to ISB, then served as Chief of Staff at an inquiry-based international school supporting its scale-up to ₹100 cr in revenue within two years. Now advises the Government of Punjab on investment and education systems.

"Development Management gave me a leadership lens I could carry across entrepreneurship, business, education, and government."

Institutional Impact

We Strengthen Social Organisations

ISDM doesn't just train individuals — it builds the institutions they work in. Through diagnostics, capacity programs, and sector-first benchmarks, we equip social-purpose organisations with the systems to grow with rigour.

“Our engagement with ISDM evolved organically through a long-standing relationship, and hiring followed naturally as ISDM graduates consistently matched our needs. What stands out is their clarity of purpose and commitment to grassroots work — many join with a long-term mindset rather than treating the role as a steppingstone, which is deeply valuable in field-based organisations like ours."

Ecosystem Impact

We Shape The Sector

Beyond individuals and institutions, ISDM functions as a field-builder — the connective tissue of an ecosystem that has historically been fragmented across themes, geographies, and institutional types. ISDM has helped establish Development Management as a standalone discipline in India with curriculum standards now mirrored by peer institutions

Voices from the ecosystem

Alumni, employers, and thought leaders on what ISDM is building, and what it's making possible.

Ayushi Choudhary
PGP-DM 2020

(CSR, Diageo India)
"The structured exposure to systems thinking, strategic nonprofit management, financial stewardship, and impact measurement has significantly enhanced the way I approach my work in the CSR function at Diageo India."
Pranshu Singhal
CEO, Karo Sambhav
"The selection of candidates at ISDM is far superior. Their batch sizes are small, and the quality of intake is clearly better than similar environmental or social science programs."
Anubha Srivastava
HR Head, Medha
"Two people joined our partnerships team, and within six months they started taking care of the whole funder account end-to-end. It is not easy to handle any funder account end-to-end."
 Anand Srinivasa Rao
Thought Leader

(Ex-PwC, Technology & AI Leader)
"ISDM has the potential to influence the ecosystem a lot more. Its platforms can own the narrative of being the central point of the Indian social sector."
