Dr Bandyopadhyay is the Director of Participatory Research in Asia (PRIA), India, with three decades of experience working with academic institutions and civil society organisations. He is a renowned expert in citizen participation and civic engagement, with extensive experience in planning, monitoring, and evaluating development projects and programmes in both urban and rural contexts. His work has a strong focus on social accountability and democratic governance.

An internationally acclaimed researcher, trainer, and facilitator of organisational development and programme planning, monitoring, and evaluation, he specialises in participatory research and learning methodologies. He has authored numerous books, articles, manuals, and monographs that have significantly contributed to participatory urban governance, participatory development, and civil society building in Asia.
