Vinita has worked in the social development sector for 28 years, primarily in the areas of livelihoods, human rights, and citizenship education. Her work has focused on building people’s capacities by equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and attitudes needed to address the challenges they face. She has been involved in setting up several organisations, including International Resources for Fairer Trade, Satark Nagrik Sangathan, and the National Homeworkers Group. Since 2010, she has been leading efforts to expand citizenship education in India as the Managing Trustee of We The People Abhiyan.

Her core competency lies in facilitation and mentoring. She is also an effective public speaker on issues she is deeply passionate about, including democracy, active citizenship, and the Constitution of India.

Education - Bachelor’s degree in Economics; Master’s degree in Management from S.P. Jain Institute, Mumbai; Master’s degree in Social Policy from the London School of Economics
