A. K. Shiva Kumar is a noted development economist and public policy expert who teaches economics and public policy at Harvard University, the Indian School of Business, and the Young India Fellowship at Ashoka University. His work focuses on social development, governance, and public policy, with a particular emphasis on human development and inclusive growth.

He has served as an advisor to UNICEF India and several international organisations and was a member of India’s National Advisory Council, contributing to key policy discussions on social and economic development. He frequently engages with academic and policy audiences on development issues, including sessions on The Context of Development (Social and Economic) in India.
