Indu is a senior public policy expert and retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer with extensive experience in governance, healthcare reform, and global development. He is best known for serving as the founding CEO of the National Health Authority (2018–2022), where he led the design and implementation of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY), the world’s largest government-funded health insurance scheme, providing coverage to over 500 million vulnerable Indians.

Prior to this, he spent over a decade at the World Bank as a Senior Advisor in the Health, Nutrition and Population Global Practice, contributing to health policy and social sector reforms across multiple countries. Earlier in his career, he held key roles in the Government of India, including positions in the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Finance, working on economic reforms and public policy design. He is widely respected for his contributions to strengthening healthcare systems, digital health infrastructure, and public governance.
