This article analyzes and evaluates findings from a recent study on philanthropic activities among the Israeli elite. Based on interviews with 79 Israeli donors in 2006, it covers the scope of their giving, demographics of "mega-donors," motivations for contributions, preferred areas of interest, and giving channels (foundations, private giving, corporate). The findings reveal a generous circle of Israeli mega-donors contributing financially and through time to social causes. The paper also examines the relationships between Israeli philanthropists and policymakers.
