How do we move beyond measuring impact as a reporting requirement to using it to inform learning, decision-making, and long-term change? This report captures key discussions and insights from the Bengaluru edition of Rethinking Impact: From Metrics to Meaning, which brought together funders, practitioners, researchers, and development professionals to explore how impact measurement can better reflect the realities of social change. Through discussions on the Rural Development Impact Framework and the Development Management–Social Impact Measurement and Management approach, alongside practical examples from education and rural development, the convening examined how evidence can guide action, centre community perspectives, and strengthen the link between measurement and practice. The report brings together the key takeaways and emerging ideas from these conversations to support a more thoughtful and effective approach to understanding impact.
