CDSSI Centre Launch

The Centre for Data Science and Social Impact (CDSSI) was launched on June 16, 2023, in Bangalore with two panel discussions. Over 60 experts in the field of data science (focused on social development) attended the convening. The launch aimed to connect Social Purpose Organisations (SPOs) with funders, academia, tech enablers, and other experts to drive rapid adoption of data and data science by the social sector.They contributed their insights, experiences, and recommendations on the intersection of data science and social impact, and the possibilities, good practices, challenges, successes, failures, and emerging trends in utilising data science for driving positive change.
Data Science for Social Impact
The event was conducted in a fishbowl format, where participants sat in two circles, an inner and an outer one.
First, participants from implementation Social Purpose Organisations (SPOs) who work directly with beneficiaries and communities, sat in the inner circle, and spoke about their work and challenges
Then, the inner and outer circle switched places. This time, the group from Round 1 formed the outer circle, while the inner circle was composed primarily of tech and ecosystem enablers, technical experts, policy experts, and academicians, who discussed possible solutions.
